SKLZ Training Basketballs

Updated: Feb 17

In today's game of basketball, smaller guards with the ability to dribble and shoot at a high level are becoming more and more in demand. If you are an aspiring basketball player or know of one, this is the blog for you! In this blog, I will show you how to use the SKLZ training basketballs to improve your handles and become the player every coach wants on their team!

SKLZ

There are three different types of SKLZ training basketballs: The small size "Light" ball, the small-sized "Official" ball, and the regulation size "Heavy" ball. Each ball targets a different subsection of handling.

Small Size "Light" Ball

This basketball is a miniature-sized ball that weighs less than a regulation ball. It is used for enhancing a player's quick and skill-based dribbling. Using this ball while doing combination moves will help you get a tighter handle when you move to a regulation ball.

Small Size "Official" Ball

Like the "Light" ball, the "Official" ball is also a miniature-sized ball. However, it weighs the same as a regulation ball making it a best-of-both-worlds training basketball. You can gain a tighter handle when completing combination moves, while also getting the feeling of a regular weighted ball.

Regulation Size "Heavy" Ball

Personally, this is my favorite ball. It is a heavy ball at the regulation size. This ball is best used for enhancing your power dribbles and allowing you to maintain control of a regular ball when you're going through contact.

Training Basketballs

The best thing about these training basketballs is that you can mix and match other training items in order to target different skills. Simply adding a regular basketball and dribbling a SKLZ training ball at the same time creates a challenge that helps you become a better ball handler.
